Matt Black High Temperature Engine Paint Spray 1K
High temperature engine paint for painting motorcycle, car, and marine engines, etc.
This product is designed to restore and refurbish any engine, as well as brake calipers and other parts.
It has elastic properties that allow it to resist rapid temperature fluctuations, such as those caused by cold puddle water in winter that can splash onto a hot engine, causing rapid expansion and contraction of the paint layer.
PREPARATION AND TOOLS
It is recommended to wear latex gloves to avoid direct contact between bare hands and metal. Always degrease metals with our Kustom Service aerospace degreaser. Always prepare the metal with our high-temperature primers. Only the combination of primer and paint ensures the right resistance to gasoline and other chemicals.
PAINTING NOTES
Ambient temperature greatly influences the painting process and its result. Since many users paint in garages or places where ambient temperature is not controlled, it's important to know some key details. If you paint below 15°C, the paint cures slowly and takes much longer to become resistant to gasoline and other chemicals. For this reason, we suggest waiting at least one week before exposing components to any chemicals, including simple water or washing soaps. When working without professional equipment, it takes longer than usual, but with patience, the same results can be achieved.
APPLICATION OF HIGH-TEMPERATURE ENGINE PAINT
First, prepare the parts with Kustom Service’s matte black engine primer, applying one light coat followed by a full coat. Wait 30 minutes for it to dry, then begin the paint application procedure. Thoroughly degrease the parts with our Aerospace Degreaser. There should be no traces of grease, rust, oxidation, imperfections, or dirt of any kind. Always wear latex gloves and never touch the metal parts with bare hands. Prepare the parts with our Kustom Service primer spray or professional liquid version. Shake the spray can or bottle well, apply a light coat, and wait 10 minutes. Apply a full coat and wait until it completely becomes matte. Apply a second full coat and wait 30 minutes to 1 hour before applying the engine paint. Be aware that after applying the primer, you have 12 hours to paint it without sanding the primer. After this period, it's recommended to lightly scuff it with 3M Scotch-Brite.
AFTER HOW LONG CAN I TOUCH AND MOUNT THE PAINTED COMPONENTS?
After applying the primer, you must apply the paint and wait the indicated times before touching or mounting the parts.
- 12 hours until dry to the touch
- 48 hours before mounting
GASOLINE RESISTANCE REACTION TIMES (Tests conducted at 18°C)
- 10/15 days for maximum chemical resistance (at a temperature of 18/20°C)
- 1 hour if baked at 60°C
- 30 days at a temperature of 10/12°C
NOTE: It is possible to bake the paint to accelerate the chemical drying process by heating it to 60°C for one hour.
PAINTING OBSERVATIONS
For the maximum matte effect, you must wait for each coat to become completely matte before applying the next one, even if this means waiting 30 minutes or more between coats. The drying times between coats depend on factors such as ambient temperature, and in the case of matte paint, they should not be accelerated with mechanical means such as a heat gun, body shop oven, or forced air.
IMPORTANT
The result of a good job depends entirely on how the preparation and cleaning of the components are carried out. Therefore, special attention must be paid to the preparation more than to the painting itself.
