2K METALLIC SILVER ENGINE PAINT SPRAY FOR VINTAGE MOTORCYCLES

2K HIGH TEMPERATURE FUEL-RESISTANT SPRAY CAN

The difference between this metallic gray and the classic one is that it does not appear as light metal, but rather as a flat gray, exactly identical to that used on vintage motorcycles.

This high-temperature, professional, two-component metallic silver engine spray paint is designed for restoring motorcycle and vintage car engines.

This product has been designed to restore and refurbish any engine with the original paint used by manufacturers.

This special spray contains an internal capsule with catalyst. The catalyst is released by pressing a button at the bottom of the can.

Once the can is well shaken, it should be used within 12 hours. If necessary, you can store it in the refrigerator to slow down the catalysis for up to 48 hours. This means it can be used for a maximum of 3 days.

A practical tip for use when taking it out of the fridge: keep it at room temperature for 30 minutes before using it to allow the paint, which may have thickened due to the cold, to liquefy.

The paint has elastic properties that allow it to resist sudden temperature changes, such as cold puddle water in winter that can wet a hot engine, causing rapid expansion and contraction of the paint layer.

PREPARATION AND TOOLS

It is recommended to wear gloves to avoid oxidation from hand contact with the metal. Always clean the metal with our Kustomservice aeronautical degreaser. The metal must be prepared with our high-temperature primers to avoid rust and oxidation.

NOTES ON PAINTING

Ambient temperature has a significant effect on the painting process and its results. Since many users paint in garages or areas where the ambient temperature is not controlled, it is important to understand the following:

  • If painting below 15°C, the paint hardens slowly, requiring significantly more time to become resistant to fuel and other chemicals. Therefore, we recommend waiting at least one week before exposing the painted components to any chemical agents, including water or washing soaps.
  • When working without professional equipment, you may need to wait longer than expected, but with patience, the results can be the same.

APPLICATION OF 2K HIGH-TEMPERATURE ENGINE PAINT SPRAY

  • Clean the parts thoroughly using our Aeronautical Degreaser. No grease, rust, oxide, imperfections, or dirt should remain. Always wear latex gloves and never touch metal parts with bare hands.
  • Prepare the parts using our Kustom Service white primer spray or professional liquid version.
  • Apply two coats of primer. Once applied, wait 30 to 60 minutes at room temperature, and then apply the 2K paint directly onto the primer without sanding.
  • This spray, unlike 1K, is 2K. This means it will give you the same result as the liquid version, with the advantage of being in spray form. However, to activate it, press the button located at the bottom of the can.
  • Before using the spray, remove the red button from the transparent cap, turn the can upside down, apply the red button to the nozzle at the bottom of the can, and press firmly for 30 seconds. The button activates the catalyst inside the can, causing the paint to harden. If this procedure is not followed, the paint will not dry and will not be resistant to any chemicals.
  • After activation, shake the can well and apply a light first coat. Wait 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, apply a full coat and wait 15 minutes.
  • Apply a second full coat and allow 48 hours for proper curing before mounting the parts.

AFTER HOW LONG CAN I TOUCH AND ASSEMBLE THE PAINTED PARTS?

  • 12 hours for touch-dry.
  • 48 hours for assembly.
  • 72 hours for optimal resistance.
  • 1 week for maximum resistance.

RESPONSE TIMES FOR FUEL RESISTANCE (tests conducted at 18°C)

  • 3-4 days for maximum chemical resistance (at 18-20°C).
  • 1 hour if baked at 60°C.
  • 30 days at a temperature of 10-12°C.
  • NOTE: It is possible to bake the paint to accelerate the chemical drying process by heating it to 60°C for one hour.

PAINTING NOTES

The drying times between coats are influenced by factors such as ambient temperature. For this type of paint, drying should not be accelerated using mechanical methods such as a heat gun, bodywork oven, or forced air.

IMPORTANT

The result of a good job entirely depends on how well the preparation and cleaning of the components are done. Therefore, more attention should be paid to preparation than to the painting process itself.
