Professional High-Temperature Liquid Black Wrinkle Paint
The black wrinkle paint is suitable for both Ferrari and Lamborghini engines.
The version with a larger wrinkle effect is called XL, while the one without the XL label has a smaller wrinkle effect.
High-temperature spray wrinkle paint for the original restoration of sports engines such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Harley Davidson, Lancia Stratos, Delta HF Integrale, Escort Cosworth.
The high-temperature wrinkle paint is also used for design and decorative objects such as Nikon camera lenses and other furniture items, thanks to its incredible resistance to scratches, heat, and abrasions.
Once dried, it is more resistant than catalyzed paint, but it is crucial to carefully follow the instructions in the technical data sheet to achieve these results.
For proper application on engines, it is mandatory to use our high-temperature primers. For other applications in the design and architecture sectors, we recommend consulting the technical data sheet and contacting our office.
Key Differences Between Liquid and Spray Versions
- The spray version is available in a standard size with medium-to-small wrinkles and an XL version with larger wrinkles, similar to the original liquid version for professional body shops.
- The spray version is not suitable for large components, such as some engine heads or design objects, as it cannot provide uniform coverage on large surfaces. For professional projects, we recommend using the liquid version applied with a body shop spray gun.
Preparation of Metal or Alloy Components
Use only and exclusively our Wrinkle Primer.
Preparation Steps:
- Sandblast and apply the Wrinkle Primer within 2 hours after sandblasting.
- Handle parts with latex gloves to avoid oxidation, and degrease them using Wrinkle Paint degreaser.
- Clean thoroughly and blow away any debris with compressed air.
- Remove old paint or rust residues with abrasive paper if not sandblasted.
- Prime with our Wrinkle Primer (spray or liquid versions). Avoid using other brands.
- If more than 2 hours pass, we recommend sandblasting again.
Preparation of Plastic Components
Always apply Wrinkle Primer on plastic as well.
Preparation Steps:
- Clean plastic parts with antistatic degreasers like our universal anti-silicone degreaser.
- Remove old paint or residue.
- Use our plastic adhesion promoter primer (Wrinkle Primer).
Application of Wrinkle Paint
These rules apply to both the spray and professional liquid versions, as the application method and techniques are the same.
- Spray Version: Shake the can well and start painting.
- Liquid Version: Shake the can briefly, filter the paint with body shop filters, and pour it into a spray gun with a 1.3mm or 1.4mm nozzle. Do not use other nozzle sizes.
Steps:
- After applying 1–2 coats of primer, let it dry for an hour at room temperature.
- Start with a light anchoring coat and wait 5 minutes at room temperature.
- Apply the first full coat, ensuring the surface looks wet and glossy. Wait 5 minutes in summer or 15 minutes in winter.
- Apply the second full coat, waiting the same time between coats.
- Apply a third full coat and wait 20 minutes in summer or 45 minutes in winter before heating.
Optional: A fourth coat can be applied for a larger wrinkle effect. The type of spray gun also influences the wrinkle size.
Heating and Wrinkling
Curing Overview:
- Wrinkle paint cures fully in 20 days at room temperature (30 days in winter). Accelerated curing is possible with 3 hours in an oven at 50–60°C, but prolonged heating may alter the wrinkle's appearance.
Heating Methods:
- Small Oven or Body Shop Oven: Bake for 30 minutes at 70°C until fully wrinkled. Let the part cool for 12 hours and allow 1 week before mounting.
- Heat Gun: Suitable for small components. Not recommended for large parts unless two people heat simultaneously.
- Infrared Heating: Effective but requires careful usage to avoid damage.
Reassembly and Resistance
- Parts can be handled the day after wrinkling.
- Parts can be mounted on engines after 48–72 hours but handle bolts carefully to avoid damaging the paint. Full curing occurs within 1–3 weeks.
